BC Black History Awareness Society is thrilled to stage these two exciting performances, NOEDY HD QUARTET and SADÉ AWELE with the SERENGETI band.

NOEDHY HD QUARTET
Noedy Hechavarria Duharte comes from Santiago de Cuba, a city Cubans affectionately call “la tierra caliente” (the warm land). He has established himself as a unique and original jazz musician on the West Coast of Canada. Noedy had the opportunity to study with internationally renowned musicians such as the pianists Danilo Pérez and Aruan Ortiz in New York City, and the saxophonists Chad Lefkowitz-Brown, René Bolduc, Frank Lozano andRalph Bowen. He also performed with jazz musicians such as John Pizzarelli, Alexander Brown, and Rafael Zaldivar. Noedy composes original music that is often described as highly poetic and complex with strong harmonies. His music is influenced by contemporary jazz music, Afro-Cuban, and Latin rhythms.

SADÉ AWELE Accompanied by SERENGETI Listen to vintage jazz sounds (like Erykah Badu meets Lauryn Hill) & timeless lyrics from Nigerian-Canadian, Afro-soul and R&B artists. Since the release of her EP, Time Love Journey, she has received praise from Honk Magazine, Herizons Magazine, Vancouver Magazine, Vancouver Sun, CBC, only to name a few. Sadé has graced the stages of (headlining) Tofino Jazz Festival, to Rogers Arena with her electric presence & irresistible aura. There will be so much more to come from her unique sound as her second EP is on the way.
